Tooth-coloured fillings that repair cavities and small chips.
About Dental Fillings
A filling repairs a tooth damaged by decay. The decayed part is removed and the space is filled, usually with a tooth-coloured material that blends with the tooth.
When is it needed?
Fillings are needed when a cavity has formed. Early cavities may cause no pain, which is why regular check-ups matter; later signs include sensitivity, a visible hole or food getting stuck.
What to expect
The tooth is numbed if needed, the decay is removed and the filling is shaped and hardened in the same visit. You can usually eat normally soon afterwards.
Dental Fillings: common questions
Will the filling be visible?
Tooth-coloured fillings are matched to your tooth and are hard to notice.
How can I avoid more cavities?
Brush twice a day with fluoride toothpaste, clean between your teeth, limit sugary snacks and drinks, and have regular check-ups.
